Ostpolitik, DDR, Stasi, Ostalgie, Trabi and the Wall. Do these names and acronyms take you back to famous and dramatic images from the recent past? Join us on this exciting journey back through time, discover the German capital's Cold War sites, and relive great events and family tales from the end of the Second World War to the Fall of the Berlin Wall.

We will cross Alexanderplatz, the city's historical crossroads, which became the focal point of the new socialist system. We will discover a new way of interpreting the architecture of the past in the reconstruction of the medieval district of St. Nicholas in 1987.

We will see the former Stalinallee, an imposing boulevard with a curious architectural style called'Wedding Cake', which is also the road through which Soviet tanks passed to free Berlin in April '45.

We will visit the Prenzlauer Berg district, which is both bohemian and chic, and an old brewery, the Kulturbrauerei.

We will also explain you the function of a dramatic symbol of the era - the Berlin Wall - and what the 'Death Strip', of which we'll see an original section on Bernauer Strasse's Wall Memorial, represented.

We will examine the everyday life of East Berliners and compare it to the neighboring but diametrically opposite reality of West Berlin.

Note: This tour is on foot but requires travel by public transport, the cost of which is not included.
