Private Half-Day Berlin Bike Tour: Berlin Wall and Cold War Sites

Learn why and how the Wall was built. Hear of how life was for the people in the divided city and how they tried to escape from the East. Ride through Brandenburg Gate, blocked for 28 years and site of U.S. President Ronald Reagan's famous speech "Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate!". Learn what events finally led to the fall of Wall.

Meet your guide at the TV Tower, where you also receive your bikes and a short introduction into safe riding in Berlin. The tower still marks the center of former communist East Berlin. After a few minutes on our bikes we will arrive at "Palace of Tears", a former checkpoint at the border. Ride along riverbanks of the Spree river close to today's Government district, were in the past, sites of dramatic escape attempts.

Visit the open-air Wall Documentation Center at Bernauer Strasse with a memorial for the victims of the Berline Wall. Experience sites where people escaped to the West by digging tunnels to gain freedom. We will also see remaining segments of the Wall, the last guard towers and Checkpoint Charlie. Conclude your tour back at the TV Tower.
